Partnership

SSAB Hardox Winkelbauer

For a new international Hardox® Wearparts image video, the Swedish world market leader SSAB relied on Winkelbauer's expertise. The filming impressively shows how our attachments and components made of highly wear-resistant Hardox® steel are in daily use in the fields of recycling, forestry technology and quarrying.

World market leader relies on the

Expertise from Winkelbauer

When it comes to processing highly wear-resistant steels, Winkelbauer is the leading centre of expertise in the Alpine region. The company specialises in processing highly wear-resistant and high-strength steels as well as armour steel – above all the premium wear material HARDOX® from the Swedish global market leader SSAB.
With state-of-the-art machinery and decades of expertise, Winkelbauer processes sheets with thicknesses of up to 150 mm and a hardness of up to 650 Brinell. The materials are cut, bent, milled, machined and precisely welded together by hand and using modern robotic welding systems. This results in high-quality and particularly durable parts made from the highest Hardox® grades, as well as safety-relevant components made from certified armoured steel to protect those who protect us – developed for applications under extreme loads.

Strong partnership

The close relationship with Swedish premium steel manufacturer SSAB has existed for almost 30 years. As the global market leader for special and premium steels, SSAB stands for the highest quality and innovative materials worldwide. Back in 2002, Winkelbauer was named one of the first official Hardox® Wearparts partners – a milestone in a partnership that continues to be characterised by trust, technical exchange and joint projects.
This close cooperation was also evident in the production of a new international image video for the Hardox® Wearparts product line, which SSAB realised in the first half of the year. The global market leader deliberately chose to rely on Winkelbauer’s expertise for this project. The Austrian company was selected from more than 500 certified Hardox® Wearparts partners worldwide – not least because of its state-of-the-art machinery, extensive know-how in the processing of Hardox® and the opportunity to present the products in a variety of real-life applications.

Hardox® expertise

For the filming, various areas of application were documented in which Winkelbauer products and components are used on a daily basis. These include the recycling of mineral building material residues and metals, forestry technology, quarrying and raw material extraction.
The film was shot at Gaugl Metallhandel GmbH in metal recycling, deep in the forest with harvester heads from Konrad Forsttechnik and in the quarries of the partners Josef Christandl GmbH and the Strobl Unternehmensgruppe Eibisberger. The group’s recycling park in Vasoldsberg also demonstrated the wide range of applications for Winkelbauer products.

Recognition for

competence and innovative strength

The companies involved are examples of the numerous industries in which Winkelbauer products and components are successfully used. At the same time, the filming highlights Winkelbauer’s technological competence and vertical range of manufacture. SSAB was also impressed by the locations, technical expertise and industry diversity.

Stephan Winkelbauer accompanied the filming and is correspondingly proud of the collaboration:
‘It is a great honour for us that SSAB has chosen us as a partner for this international image video. This confirms the close and successful partnership we have maintained for many years, and it also shows that our expertise in Hardox® processing is highly valued in Stockholm and Oxelösund.’

With its specialisation in high-wear-resistant steels and armour steel, state-of-the-art manufacturing technology and many years of experience, Winkelbauer is now one of the leading centres of expertise for Hardox® processing in the Alpine region – and a reliable partner for customers from a wide range of industries.
