Gaugl Metallhandel
Efficiant metal recycling
In the metal recycling industry, construction machinery and shredding plants are subjected to extreme stresses. Bulky materials, high throughput rates and continuous operation call for particularly robust solutions. As a centre of expertise in the machining of high-wear-resistant steel, Winkelbauer develops durable components and products specifically designed for these demanding applications: efficient metal recycling with the Winkelbauer product range.

Winkelbauer expertise in recycling applications
Especially in recycling, wear-resistant components are crucial for a long service life and economical operation. Winkelbauer manufactures robust equipment and components made of HARDOX® that are specially tailored to the requirements of modern recycling companies. The high wear resistance ensures less downtime and a significantly longer service life for the equipment used. Winkelbauer’s extensive product range with “Hardox in my Body” includes a wide range of buckets for loaders up to 60 tonnes, such as loading buckets, high-tip buckets and hold-down buckets, as well as demolition equipment for excavators up to 150 tonnes. This includes sorting buckets, grid buckets, grabs, scrap shears, compactors and much more. In addition to its own products and merchandise, Winkelbauer also manufactures highly wear-resistant components, including for shredder shafts.

Gaugl Metallhandel - a high-performance partner
Winkelbauer’s extensive expertise is reflected in its long-standing partner in this sector, Gaugl Metallhandel in Hartl near Kaindorf. The company was founded in 1973 and is now managed by Alexander Gaugl in the second generation. Around 60 employees work on the company’s 3 hectare site. Gaugl specialises in ferrous scrap and non-ferrous metals such as overhead line cables, aluminium parts, aluminium sheets, brass and copper.
Gaugl Metallhandel GmbH processes these large quantities of material with a modern sorting plant, high-performance shredder systems, two wheel loaders with WI loading shovels and seven Liebherr excavators – equipped with grabs, sorting buckets, scrap shears and much more. The processed raw materials are then delivered to customers throughout Europe. The metal waste from Winkelbauer is also transported to Kaindorf by a short route and properly recycled at Gaugl.
Sustainability as a corporate principle
As a recycling company, Gaugl sees itself as part of the circular economy and consistently relies on resource-saving technologies. For example, HVO diesel has been used since August 2024, which significantly reduces CO₂ emissions. The company also uses photovoltaic systems and relies on electric forklifts in its operations.

Part of the international Hardox film shoot
The successful collaboration with Winkelbauer was also evident in the international Hardox Wearparts image video by SSAB. A shredder with Hardox components from Winkelbauer in practical use and the sorting bucket were filmed for the film shoot.
This is an impressive demonstration of how durable materials in metal recycling contribute to the efficiency of modern recycling operations.
