Container Tipping Attachment
When motivated students tackle real-world industrial challenges, the result is innovation with tangible value. This is exactly what we experienced in a successful diploma project carried out in cooperation with HTL Weiz – Higher Technical College, Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Clear objectives
Greater safety and efficiency in container unloading
The project originated from a common challenge in telehandler applications: manually securing a tipping bucket for container emptying is both time-consuming and poses safety risks. The students were therefore tasked with developing an automatic tipping attachment for telehandlers that would make the emptying process more efficient, safer, and easier to operate.
The diploma project focused on the following development goals:
- Automatic locking and tipping mechanism
- Hydraulic control of the tipping process
- Improved operational safety
- Controlled and efficient container emptying
The project was successfully completed and demonstrates the potential that arises when technical expertise is combined with practical industry requirements.
Successful collaboration
HTL Weiz & Winkelbauer
On the company side, the project was overseen by our product manager, Daniel Kreimer. On behalf of HTL Weiz, Prof. DI Harald Pracher supported the final-year students throughout the entire project phase.
For Winkelbauer, collaboration with educational institutions such as HTL Weiz is a key part of nurturing the next generation of talent. It offers young people the opportunity to apply their knowledge to real-world challenges whilst gaining valuable practical experience.
