For the first time in Austria
Komatsu WA485-11 incl. WI loading shovel
Strobl Schotter- und Betonwerk from Weiz is the first company in Austria to use the brand new Komatsu WA485-11, equipped with a Hardox 500 TUF loading shovel from Winkelbauer. This combination of state-of-the-art machine technology and high-quality Attachment will ensure maximum efficiency in daily operations in the future.

Partnership for success
The decision in favour of the first Komatsu WA485-11 in Austria was made after intensive discussions at the MAWEV Show 2024 and a test phase on site. It is therefore not only the first in Austria, but also the first Komatsu machine at Strobl. Peter Eibisberger, Managing Director of Strobl, is satisfied with the collaboration with Kuhn: “The fact that we were able to test the machines on site was very important. This enabled us to adapt the loader perfectly to the requirements in the quarry. The company colour – Strobl red – is of course also a real highlight for us.” The wheel loader was equipped with a Winkelbauer loading shovel. And here Eibisberger relies on known quality: “We are very satisfied with Winkelbauer. We have been sourcing all our buckets from them for years because their quality and durability are absolutely convincing.”

Hardox 500 TUF
The loading shovel is made of highly wear-resistant Hardox steels. Hardox 500 TUF in particular offers maximum durability and longevity with a low dead weight. This enables a capacity of 5.2 m³ with a cutting width of 3,210 mm. The HB500 cutting edge is protected against wear with a welded-on HB500 half-arrow profile and therefore offers good Penetration behaviour as well as a fast cycle time in the demanding limestone quarrying at Strobl.
The first in Austria
Komatsu WA485-11
The Komatsu WA485-11 impresses with its high efficiency, powerful performance and excellent operator comfort. The innovative power-split transmission (K-HMT) ensures smooth power transmission, customisable speed and increases fuel efficiency by 29% compared to the previous model. Thanks to the increased payload (up to 9,300 kg), the number of loading cycles is reduced, which increases productivity. A modern exhaust aftertreatment system keeps emissions low and extends maintenance intervals. The spacious, ergonomic cab with soundproofed interior (70 dB) and improved visibility ensures a high level of driving comfort. New assistance systems, such as an automatic bucket filling system and innovative joystick steering, make operation easier. With digital eco instructions and telematics systems, the WA485-11 optimises fuel consumption and minimises downtimes – ideal for demanding material handling and loading operations. Florian Handl, Sales Consultant for Kuhn Construction machinery in Styria, emphasises the technical performance of the machine: “The Komatsu WA485-11 is the first machine of its kind in Austria. With an operating weight of 30 tonnes, a powerful 363 hp six-cylinder engine and state-of-the-art technology, it offers maximum performance.”
