1st place in the apprentice competition
Bernhard Dunst secured 1st place in the regional apprentice competition for metal technicians! His speciality: steel construction & welding technology. A great success. And now it's off to the national competition in Upper Austria.
Winning with precision, expertise and perseverance
Bernhard impressed the expert jury at this year’s state competition for metal technicians with his full commitment and technical expertise. He is currently completing his fourth year of training in steel construction technology in combination with welding technology – a demanding field of work that requires both precision and perseverance. And these are precisely his strengths, as he proved in Mureck. The competition consisted of a seven-hour practical part, in which various welding exercises had to be completed, as well as a 30-minute theory test. Bernhard passed both parts with flying colours, beating off stiff competition.
With first place, he also qualified for the Federal Apprentice Competition, which will take place in Upper Austria in autumn.

The preparation time for me was …
… very intensive and instructive. My colleagues prepared me really well and that’s why I really enjoyed the competition. Thank you for that!
I took part …
… to win (laughs). I came third two years ago and now I’ve done it. The competition was also very good, the competition was at a high level.
For the apprenticeship in metal technology …… …because I simply enjoy working with metal and steel. It’s very versatile and varied. It’s a great feeling when you see your finished product on delivery.The apprenticeship at Winkelbauer is for me,… simply great. The training is great, we learn everything from scratch and the job rotation gives us lots of insights into the different areas of the company.
